This is where the brain drain was crucial.

To many ordinary people, the situation seems paradoxical: the largest manufacturer of memory chips, the South Korean company Samsung Electronics, still cannot obtain the right to supply its HBM family products for the needs of NVIDIA, while a smaller market player represented by SK hynix controls more than half of the HBM segment precisely due to close relationship with NVIDIA. According to TechNews, staff drain is partly to blame for this state of affairs.

At least, the source reports that Samsung was quite actively developing HBM-type memory at first, but the team of specialists moved to SK hynix, thereby ensuring the progress of the competitor to the detriment of Samsung Electronics. However, analysts are convinced that without such a large supplier as Samsung, NVIDIA will still not be able to effectively increase the supply of its computing accelerators, and sooner or later they will begin to cooperate in this area on an ongoing basis.
