The memory market is currently experiencing difficult times. And although there is no good news or prospects for price reductions for ordinary consumers yet, production volumes are gradually recovering. Korean media write that Samsung will soon launch production of a new 9th generation V-NAND memory.
As part of this generation, the manufacturer will offer memory with 290 layers, which will be produced using new technologies for layering and electrical connections between them. Now manufacturers produce solutions with a maximum of 236 layers. With the release of 9th generation V-NAND, Samsung will set a new standard in the industry. And such a memory may be presented as early as next month.
The company won't stop there. Work is already underway on the 10th generation of V-NAND memory, within which the manufacturer wants to reach 430 layers! But this memory will appear only next year. It looks like the NAND memory industry has entered a heated race for layer count, with Samsung so far comfortably ahead of rivals SK Hynix and Kioxia.
