The Samsung Galaxy S23 series of smartphones started updating to OneUI 6.1 at the end of March. But a problem with the fingerprint recognition function has caused some users frustration.
These users report failures in the fingerprint recognition function of the Galaxy S23 series models. This issue does not allow access to devices after the first unsuccessful attempt.
It is necessary to remove the registered fingerprint and recognize it again for unlocking to be possible. Additionally, there are complaints that the system crashes and requires two consecutive attempts to unlock the phone.
The issue appears to be related to the update to One UI 6.1. Before this update, users did not face difficulties with the fingerprint functionality.
The issue is not just limited to the malfunction of the fingerprint sensor. In addition, there have also been problems related to charging and heating the device after the aforementioned update. A community manager on Samsung's Korean forum confirmed the problem, apologizing for the inconvenience caused and stating:
“We deeply regret the inconvenience caused when using the device. We have confirmed that in some cases, the lock screen fingerprint recognition function does not work properly. Or a notification window may appear.”
A solution to this setback is being worked on, with the promise of a software update to resolve the failure. Samsung advises, for now, that users of the Galaxy S23 series use facial recognition or PIN code to unlock their devices.
