Samsung is reportedly keeping its dual-SoCs approach for next year's Galaxy S25 lineup. The Galaxy S25 Ultra is rumored to feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, while the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25 Plus are rumored to feature an Exynos SoC.

According to media outlet Digitimes, the Galaxy S25 Ultra would be equipped with the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC. Likewise, the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25 Plus should be powered by the Exynos 2500 in most regions, with the variants destined for the United States , to China and a few other countries receiving Qualcomm SoC.

Samsung still considers the Snapdragon, superior and more powerful than its internal Exynos, since it (Snapdragon) reserves it for the premium model, the Galaxy Ultra. On the other hand, using the Exynos SoC would give an advantage to Samsung, as costs would be reduced compared to paying royalties for the Snapdragon SoC.

Leaker OreXda was the first to share Samsung's SoCs strategy. In a listing, it showed that the Galaxy S Ultra models and the Galaxy Z Fold would use the Snapdragon SoC, while the standard Galaxy S and mid-range Galaxy smartphones would remain powered by Exynos.

The move is not at all surprising since Samsung's mobile division head Tim Roth previously hinted that Samsung would continue with the “one size fits all” strategy for its 2025 Galaxy lineup. The division head would be referring to the SoC like the Exynos 2500, which will receive the same 10-core processor with a Cortex-X5 and a new Xclipse 950 GPU.

Available details about the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 describe it as a promising upgrade to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and could feature a desktop-grade Oryon core.

Alleged benchmarks have claimed that it will be faster than Apple's upcoming A18 Pro SoC. The new SoC is also expected to be made using a smaller 3nm manufacturing process, which could mean it would have to contain even more transistors.

Qualcomm hasn't confirmed anything about the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 yet, but it could introduce the SoC this fall.

What do you think of Samsung's SoC strategy? Do you think all Galaxy models should feature Snapdragon?
