In the current stable version of Google Messages, when you capture an image from the app to send it in an RCS conversation, a small preview of the image appears in the compose box. You can tap the image to view it in full screen. Now Google has started testing a significant change in the way Google Messages shows the preview of the image you capture within the application to send it in an RCS conversation, something that Samsung does. Everything to offer a better user experience.
Google Messages got a function from the Samsung app!
According to 9To5Google, when you capture an image in the latest beta version of Google Messages (version 20240318_01_RC00) to send it in an RCS chat, a full-screen preview of the image is shown. This allows you to see the image more clearly before sending it. The application also now gives you the option to “Write a message” on the image directly from the preview screen. It is undoubtedly much more practical.

However, if Google Messages' new approach seems familiar to you, you're right. Samsung Messages offers a similar arrangement. WhatsApp too. These apps show you a full-screen preview of an image before sending it. However, unlike Samsung Messages and WhatsApp, Google Messages doesn't show a full-screen preview when sending an existing image.
Google is expected to release the new interface in the stable version of Google Messages in the coming weeks.
But there is more news.
After Photomoji, animated emojis and some screen effects, reaction effects are becoming widely available in Google Messages for Android.
Effects on reactions have reached Google Messages for Android!
When you long-press a message – SMS or RCS – and select “thumbs up”, “the magic unfolds instantly as an animated trio of hands dance around the message bubble”. Google says this is “designed to add a dynamic touch to your conversations.”
Reaction effects are available with these 10 popular emoji characters, although two – 😡😠 – result in the same animation as reported by the website 9to5Google.
👍 – Thumbs up
❤️ – Red heart
😂 – Face with Tears of Joy
😮 – Face with open mouth
😡 – Enraged face
👎 – Thumbs down
💩 – Pile of Poop
🎉 – Popper party
😠 – Angry face
😢 – Crying Face
So in recent weeks, this new feature came out of beta and is now available in the stable version of Google Messages.
Some have complained that there is no way to specifically disable these reactions. Although they only last a few seconds, it's a valid complaint and it would be a good idea to create a high-level expressive characteristics definition in Google Messages.
This joins the widespread availability of animated emojis, while Photomoji began arriving at the end of January. On-screen effects are also available, but only for two animations.
Yesterday, the beta version of Google Messages started rolling out custom bubbles. We are still waiting for the design of the audio recorder with Voice Moods and Profiles.
In fact, SMS are not dead and Google messages are proof of that. The search engine giant continues to invest in this app, bringing many new features that bring this platform closer to similar ones like WhatsApp.
