A new rumor suggests that MediaTek could supply the main chip for some models in the upcoming Galaxy series.

The MediaTek Dimensity 9400

Samsung is looking to diversify processor sourcing for its flagship devices and appears to be aiming for a dual chipset strategy, which will include MediaTek’s new Dimensity 9400. The goal is to reduce dependence on Qualcomm and optimize costs. Although there is no official confirmation from Samsung or MediaTek, Google may have let some details leak.

The clue left by Google

Google recently published a blog post about the advancements of its AlphaChip division, which designs processors using artificial intelligence. Among the information released, there is talk of collaboration with MediaTek to accelerate the development of Dimensity chips, also used in Samsung devices. Even if the Galaxy S25 is not explicitly mentioned, the use of the term “Dimensity Flagship 5G” suggests the possibility that it is the next Dimensity 9400, which is expected to be released soon.

Although there is no confirmation, information of this type often leaks from the statements made by the various companies involved in certain collaborations. For this reason, although the final word is still up to them, information of this type often becomes confirmed quickly.

Samsung and the new chipset strategy

For some time now, the most accepted theory saw Samsung using the Exynos 2500 for the Galaxy S25, but the production difficulties of the 3nm GAA process, a direct cause of any delays, have changed the cards on the table. Despite these issues, the Exynos 2500 is said to not have been completely abandoned, but could find its way into cheaper models like the Galaxy S25 FE and future foldable devices. If the partnership with MediaTek is confirmed, Samsung could offer different variants of the Galaxy S25, each with technical specifications optimized for different markets. This rumor is part of an increasingly close collaboration between large technology companies, which are trying to respond to the growing demand for powerful and versatile processors, suitable for high-end smartphones. For now, it remains to be seen how Samsung and MediaTek will move forward in the coming months.
