Multiple sources report Reutersinformed this agency that Samsung intends to cut 15 to 30% of its administrative, marketing and sales staff outside of South Korea. In India, for example, the cuts have already begun, and as a result, up to 1,000 people could lose their jobs. Of its 267,800 employees, the company had approximately 147,000 employees outside of South Korea as of the end of 2023.

The specialists employed in production and development are not expected to be affected by the layoffs. It is also not specified whether such events will take place in South Korea itself, but in the historical homeland such actions of the employer could cause too much public resonance, especially considering the recent strikes of production personnel. Samsung refused to comment on the rumors to the Reuters agency, calling the information related to the layoffs confidential, and the measures taken to optimize the number of staff regular.
