Samsung Electronics presented new models of gaming monitors at the Gamescom 2024 exhibition. Perhaps the most interesting new product of the South Korean giant was the Odyssey 3D display, which will be available in 27- and 37-inch modifications. Its main feature is the ability to display 3D content without additional glasses or other auxiliary means.
“Odyssey 3D’s innovative Light Field Display (LFD) technology transforms 2D content into lifelike 3D images using lenticular lenses on the front panel. And with eye-tracking and projection mapping technologies, Odyssey 3D delivers an optimal 3D viewing experience without the need for special 3D glasses: eye-tracking technology uses a built-in stereo camera, and projection mapping technology continuously adjusts the image to enhance the perception of depth,” Samsung says.
Samsung Odyssey 3D can be used as a regular monitor. In this mode, it will offer 4K resolution, 165 Hz refresh rate, and 1 ms response time (gray to gray). Among other features, the manufacturer notes a stand with height and tilt adjustment, as well as support for AMD FreeSync Premium. DisplayPort 1.4 and HDMI 2.1 (x2) interfaces are provided for connecting to an image source.
Three new models of the Samsung Odyssey OLED line were also announced at Gamescom 2024: the G95SD, G93SD, and G85SD. The first two feature a 49-inch diagonal, a 5120×1440 resolution, and a 240Hz refresh rate, while the third offers a 3440×1440 resolution, a 34-inch diagonal, and a 175Hz refresh rate.
